Ben, a depressed young man caught in the foster system, is relentlessly bullied by a group of students at school. Eventually, the harassment gets out of hand and the bullying results in a tragic accident that puts Ben in a hospital bed, seemingly paralyzed. His recovery process is slow until he meets Adrienne, a fellow patient bound to a wheelchair yet perpetually perky. Adrienne works with him at the hospital, on both physical and emotional levels, bringing hope into his life and eventually introducing him to her grandfather, Taekwondo Grand Master Kang. Kang not only teaches Ben how to walk and get back up on his feet, but also how to take charge of his own life and ultimately to face his inner demons.
