Friday, November 9 from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM
Geena Davis joins us for a special screening of the new documentary, This Changes Everything. This film takes an investigative look at the gender disparity in Hollywood, and features Geena as the film’s main subject. Following the screening, NVFF will present the Davis Estates Visionary Tribute to Geena for her contributions in film as an actress and her important work to further women’s rights and gender equality in the film industry.

Geena Davis is an Academy Award and Golden Globe winning actress known for her work in such films as The Accidental Tourist, Thelma & Louise, and A League of Their Own. Geena is also recognized for her tireless advocacy of women and girls. She is the Founder and Chair of the non-profit Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media, which engages film and television creators to dramatically increase the percentages of female characters — and reduce gender stereotyping — in media made for children 11 and under.

Laurence J. Fishburne III has achieved an impressive body of work as an actor, producer and director. His many film credits include The Matrix Trilogy, Apocalypse Now, Boyz ‘n the Hood, A Rumor of War, The Color Purple, Searching for Bobby Fischer, Higher Learning, Mystic River, Deep Cover, and King of New York.

Laurence won his first Emmy Award for “The Box” episode of Tribeca, and his second for his one-man show, Thurgood. Laurence received a Best Actor Oscar nomination for What’s Love Got to Do with It. He was an Emmy Award nominee and an NAACP Image Award-winner for his starring role in Miss Evers’ Boys, which he also executive-produced. Laurence has been nominated eighteen times for NAACP Image awards, with five wins.

Academy Award-winning writer, actor, director and musician, Billy Bob Thornton has an extensive and impressive career in motion pictures, television and theater. Charismatic and uniquely talented, Thornton has established himself as one of the most sought after actor/filmmakers of his generation.

Currently celebrating a high water mark in his career, Thornton was most recently seen starring in the Amazon series “Goliath” from producer David Kelley, for which his performance received rave reviews and garnered him a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Television Drama. He also reprised his iconic and Golden Globe nominated performance in the 2003 box-office hit “Bad Santa”, in “Bad Santa 2.” He will also be seen in “A Million Little Pieces,” the screen adaptation of James Frey’s best-selling book.

Alice Eve’s work in film and television has proven her as a versatile and dynamic talent in the entertainment industry. She can next be seen in Jeffrey Nachmanoff’s sci-fi thriller, Replicas, opposite Keanu Reeves. This fall, Eve will play Fox & Friends host Ainsley Earhardt in Jay Roach’s feature, Fair and Balanced, opposite John Lithgow, Charlize Theron, and Margot Robbie. Eve most recently starred in the second season of Netflix’s Iron Fist for which she garnered rave reviews for her portrayal of the iconic Marvel character, ‘Mary Walker.’ Her other film credits include Paramount’s Star Trek Into Darkness, Men in Black 3, and Niall Johnson’s adventure film The Stolen.

The Miner Family Winery Legacy Ensemble Tribute is sure to be a hilarious on-stage conversation amongst some of the most famous comedians and actors who got their start at LA’s renowned Groundlings Theatre & School. Celebrate over 40 years of comedic beginnings, and several of the alumni who’ve given audiences joy and laughter for decades.

Cheri Oteri

Cheri Oteri joined The Groundlings, and in 1995 the producers of Saturday Night Live saw one of her monologues, which led to her being hired as a cast member for five seasons. She has also appeared in several films, including Scary Movie, Inspector Gadget, Liar Liar, Dumb and Dumberer, Shrek the Third, Southland Tales, and Grown Ups 2.

Jordan Black

Jordan Black has been a series regular on such shows as Punk’d, MTV’s The Lyricist Lounge Show, the WB’s On the Spot and E!’s Star Dates. His voice has been heard on South Park and he’s been seen and heard on How I Met Your Mother, The Tonight Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live, among others.

Julia Sweeney

Julia Sweeney is well known for her iconic portrayal of comedic character Pat. Julia started taking classes on a whim at The Groundlings Theater and joined Saturday Night Live in 1990 as a featured player.

Laraine Newman

Laraine Newman is an Emmy and Annie nominated performer and a founding member of The Groundlings. After seeing her in The Groundlings, Lorne Michaels cast her in a Lily Tomlin Special and later as an original cast member of Saturday Night Live. She has worked with directors ranging from Woody Allen to Guillermo del Toro and has a thriving animation career.

Stephanie Courtney

Stephanie Courtney’s credits include Blades of Glory, The Brothers Solomon, The Heartbreak Kid, and For Your Consideration. Her television credits include Mad Men, The Comeback, Nobodies, The Goldbergs, and 2 Broke Girls. She also plays Flo for Progressive Insurance.

Alexandra Shipp

Alexandra Shipp is known for her role as Storm in X-Men: Apocalypse. Alexandra will be reprising the role of Storm in X-Men: Dark Phoenix, set to release February 14, 2019. Alexandra can be seen in Love, Simon and recently completed work on Son of Shaft and A Dog’s Way Home. Alexandra also appeared in the Oscar nominated feature Straight Outta Compton.

Billy Magnussen

Billy Magnussen can currently be seen in the film Game Night and the Netflix series Maniac. His upcoming films include The Oath, Aladdin, and Velvet Buzzsaw. Billy is currently in production on the series Tell Me a Story. His previous film and television credits include Into the Woods, Bridge of Spies, Black Mirror, Get Shorty, and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.

Camila Mendes

Camila Mendes stars as Veronica Lodge, in The CW’s hit breakout drama Riverdale, which is currently in its third season. Camila booked her role on Riverdale while still a student at New York University’s Tisch School of Arts. Camila stars in the upcoming film The New Romantic and recently completed production on the films The Stand In and Falcon Lake.

Rosa Salazar

Rosa Salazar can be seen in the upcoming films Alita: Battle Angel, The Kindergarten Teacher, and Bird Box. She has previously appeared in the films Maze Runner: The Death Cure, Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials, Night Owls, and Insurgent. Her television credits include American Horror Story, Parenthood, and Man Seeking Woman. Rosa is currently in production on the series Undone.

Taissa Farmiga

Taissa Farmiga can currently be seen in the films The Nun and What They Had and on the small screen reprising her characters of “Violet” and “Zoe” in American Horror Story: Apocalypse. She also appears in the NVFF18 film, The Long Dumb Road. Her previous credits include Rules Don’t Apply, In A Valley of Violence, The Final Girls, Friday the 13th, 6 Years, Jamesy Boy, The Bling Ring, At Middleton, Anna, and American Horror Story. Taissa has recently wrapped production on the film, The Mule.

Tye Sheridan

Tye Sheridan made his film debut at the age of 14 in Terrence Malick’s Oscar-nominated drama Tree of Life. Tye was recently starred in Steven Spielberg’s Ready Player One. He can also be seen in the films Friday’s Child and The Yellow Birds. This fall, Sheridan stars in X-Men: Dark Phoenix, reprising his role as Scott Summers / Cyclops.
